Quantities
Counts the objects of the project and adds up their length, area and volume, grouped by layer, kind and colour. The bill can be saved as a CSV file or printed as a sheet.
Quantities
Opens the Quantities window. The window is not modal and follows the project: the table is recounted when the drawing or the selection changes. It only reads the project and changes nothing.
Where to find it
Tools tab → Check group → Quantities (Quantities).
How to
- Click Quantities.
- In What to count choose the scope: Project, Selection or Layers. For Layers, pick one or more layers in the list beside it (Ctrl or Shift to pick several).
- In Group by tick Layer, Kind and/or Colour. Only the ticked columns are shown. With none ticked the table has one line for everything.
- Read the table; click a column header to sort. The line under the table shows the total.
- Click Save as CSV… or Report… to take the bill out of the window (see below).
The scope and the grouping are remembered. By default the scope is Project and the grouping is Layer.
Parameters
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Project | Every object of the project |
| Selection | The objects selected now. The table follows the selection. |
| Layers | The objects on the layers picked in the list. The list is enabled only for this scope. |
| Layer | Group by the layer's name |
| Kind | Group by the kind of object (shown by its name) |
| Colour | Group by the object's colour as #RRGGBB; an object without its own colour takes the colour of its layer |
The table
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Layer, Kind, Colour | The group (shown when grouped by it) |
| Count | Number of objects in the group |
| Length, m | Total length |
| Area, m² | Total area |
| Volume, m³ | Total volume |
A dash (—) means no object of the group has that figure. What each object brings:
| Object | Length | Area | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Line | Its length (needs two or more points) | The enclosed area, if the line is closed | none |
| Mesh, wireframe, solid | none | Surface area | Volume, if the surface is closed |
| Hatch | none | The area it fills | none |
| Anything else (a point, a text, …) | none | none | none |
Such objects are still counted in Count. Groups are ordered by layer name, then kind, then colour.
Taking the bill out
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Save as CSV… | Writes the table to a CSV file (default name quantities.csv). Separator is a semicolon, numbers use a dot, an absent figure is left empty, a Total line is added at the end. |
| Report… | Opens the "BILL OF QUANTITIES" sheet in the report designer, with the project name, the scope, the date and the totals. |
| Close | Closes the window. |
