Project Audit
Looks the project over for duplicated objects, broken objects, dangling references and empty layers, lists what it finds, and repairs what can be repaired.
Project audit
Opens the Project audit window. It scans every object of the project (or only the selected ones), lists the problems worst first, and lets you show the objects of a problem in the view and repair the problems.
Where to find it
Tools tab → Check group → Project audit (Project audit).
Before you start
- To check only some objects, select them first. The Only the selected objects box is available only when something is selected.
- Objects on locked layers are never changed by a fix; they are counted and left as they are.
How to
- Click Project audit. The window scans at once and fills the list.
- Read the summary under the list: the number of problems, how many are errors and warnings, and how many can be repaired.
- Click a problem and click Show (or double-click the row) to select its objects and bring them into the view.
- Click Fix to repair the problems picked in the list, or Fix all fixable to repair every problem that can be repaired. Each is one undo step, so Ctrl+Z takes it back.
- After a fix the list is scanned again and the summary begins with how many problems were repaired and how many were left on locked layers.
The list
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Severity | Error, Caution or Notice |
| What is wrong | The message of the problem |
| Kind of object | The kind of the object, or the layer name for an empty layer |
| Layer | The layer of the object |
| Fix | What the fix does; empty when the problem cannot be repaired automatically |
Several rows can be picked at once. Click a column header to sort.

What is checked
| Message | Severity | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A coordinate is not a number or is infinite | Error | Delete |
| A coordinate is absurdly far from the origin | Caution | None. Shown with the farthest value; the limit is 1e9 |
| The layer of the object is gone | Error | Move to the default layer |
| The text style, dimension style or leader style of the object is gone | Caution | Use the default style |
| The line type of the object is gone | Caution | Clear the line type |
| The data could not be read | Error | None |
| This version does not know this kind of object; it is kept as it was saved | Notice | None |
| The same object is drawn twice | Caution | Delete the second copy |
| The line has no length | Caution | Delete |
| N of M triangles have no area | Caution | Remove degenerate triangles (the object is deleted if nothing is left) |
| The layer holds no objects | Notice | Remove the layer |
Two objects are the same when they have the same kind, layer and colour, the same points (to within 1e-6) and the same text or triangles. The first one is kept. A line has no length when it has fewer than two points or is shorter than 1e-9.
If something goes wrong
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| ✓ Nothing wrong found. | The project is clean |
| None of these problems can be repaired automatically. | Fix all fixable stays disabled; use Show and correct the objects by hand |
| Repaired: N, left on locked layers: M. | Unlock the layer and click Scan again, then Fix |
